So it has been 21 days in London so far, although it feels longer! The plane ride here was terribly long and uncomfortable, sheffield hotels but God brought me here safe and sound! The apprehension I felt before leaving was unreal! I had never before felt so nervous and excited in my life! I definitely cried and was sad but as soon as I got on the plane everything turned into excitement. The first week here was an orientation sheffield hotels week. I put that in quotes because sheffield hotels as an Orientation Leader back home this was certainly not what I expected. The RAs and OLs are very mellow and just let us learn everything ourselves. We were free to participate, or not participate, in anything in everything. I am in a double, the room being bigger than doubles back home. The building is similar to any dorm I ve seen and this building is unique in that it has dorms, a Library, computer labs, dining hall, mail rooms, and laundry rooms all in one. Every room also has a sink which I really like because it s easier to get ready in the morning. The showers are sinfully SMALL! sheffield hotels I will have to get used to those. Shaving my legs this morning was a task in itself.
The rest of my first week was composed of a bus tour, walking tours, library session, a really fabulous British sheffield hotels play, several other sessions, and a Boat Party. The Boat Party was awesome! All the study abroad students sheffield hotels go to enjoy a DJ on a boat that sailed sheffield hotels up and down the Thames. The city looks gorgeous at night! sheffield hotels The bus tour was also great, we saw many sites including Parliament, Big Ben, the London Eye, the Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, and the Paralympic Torch! That was a once in a lifetime sheffield hotels opportunity. We got caught in traffic sheffield hotels but it was a good thing because we saw the torch and athletes run by! All in all, a very easy week. On my free time, I walked around campus and around the city. This campus is tiny, even compared to my tiny campus back home. The school itself has two campuses but the one we are on is called the Kensington Campus, which is in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. This campus only has four buildings! sheffield hotels And they are spread out around the neighborhood so it barely feels like a campus. I like this fact though because we can walk to any destination. Anything at all. High Street and Gloucester Road are two big streets with EVERYTHING on them. It reminds me of NY. It is store after store after store! Even though I keep looking the wrong way before crossing the street, I can definitely get used to all of these shops and the Tube being a five-minute walk away. London has plenty of American shops as well so I am always reminded of home. TK Maxx is right around the corner, as well as Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Burger King and the Gap. I m going to try to avoid American places to experience more culture but sadly I have already eaten at McDonalds three times .
Classes sheffield hotels here are going well. They are all very interesting yet challenging. THere are not many assignments like classes sheffield hotels back home so everything depends on a few papers and exams this entire semester. I hope I do well on them all!
The rest of this month looks so fun! Every weekend on my calendar is filled with events. We get to ride on the London Eye, see Stonehenge, go on a BBC Studios Tour, Jack the Ripper Walking Tour, Harry Potter Walking Tour, and PARIS!!! I am SO eager to fill up every single weekend of the semester. sheffield hotels You have to live it up! As one girl told me last night; YOLO London once haha. I have to make it a point to travel! Amsterdam, Spain, sheffield hotels and possibly Wales are on our radar! I am having such a great time!
