The special guest of honor this year will be Jackie Joyner-Kersee, who is widely recognized as one of the top female athletes of all time. Joyner-Kersee, who won a total of six Olympic medals over a span of four Olympic Games, is known world-wide for her philanthropic efforts, which includes the establishment of the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation, which has raised more than $12 million over the years.
Joyner-Kersee won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the Olympics. She won a silver medal in the heptathlon at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and then won gold medals in the heptathlon and long jump at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, Korea. She followed that up by winning gold in the heptathlon and bronze in the long jump at the 1992 Olympics and won her final medal, a bronze in the long jump, at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
In addition, she won a total of four gold medals (two in the heptathlon and two in the long jump) at three different World Championships and she also finished first in the long jump at the 1987 Pan Am Games.
