We recommend that if you are visiting New Zealand on a solo trip, and do not plan on joining a guide

When visiting New Zealand, you have a lot of transport options to choose from when traveling by yourself. You can choose to travel NZ by driving, travel specials to hawaii by taking a train, by taking a bus, cruises and you can travel around the country by plane. Each has their own pro s and con s. Most travellers choose to travel by driving, but depending on where you intend on traveling this is not for the faint-hearted. We have travelled up and down the country, so we know our stuff! Read on to find out which method is best for you.
We recommend travel specials to hawaii that if you are visiting New Zealand on a solo trip, and do not plan on joining a guided tour, that you pick up a rental car and drive yourself around. New Zealand has deals with a number of countries where your drivers license will automatically carry on into New Zealand. Off the top of my head, I know we have deals with USA, Canada, travel specials to hawaii UK, Australia (obviously!), Japan and Germany. We will have many more, so be sure to check it out. It may have certain requirements, such as needing to have had your full license in your country for 2 years. NZ cops do patrol and stop people for random checks and have random alcohol stops, so be sure your license is legal otherwise you will get fined! On the plus side, New Zealand police have been voted the most friendly and approachable cops in the world. None of them carry guns and they are all really nice and honest, so don t be worried if they pull you over.
New Zealand has a lot of places off the beaten track . There are roads pretty much everywhere, but not all of them are great to drive on. When driving along the west coast, you will inevitably be driving on windy, narrow roads that are not for the faint hearted when the weather conditions aren t great. The roads to the ski fields are also windy and narrow, and combined with snow can be somewhat nerve-wracking. As long as you are careful and take it slow you will be fine. You will also need to remember that New Zealand drives on the left side of the road, and that in NZ the person turning left has the right of way. When driving between travel specials to hawaii the North and South Island, there is no bridge (funnily enough) so you will need to take your car across on the ferry. On the plus side, the traffic travel specials to hawaii on NZ roads is mostly negligable, the scenery is gorgeous and the main roads are kept in great condition. But if you are a nervous driver, then there are other options for getting around.
New Zealand has a wide range of companies. You can go two routes; firstly, you can go the guided route. At Haka Tours, travel specials to hawaii we offer small-group guided tours . You will join up with a small group (on average 6-10 people) and be driven around NZ with a personal guide to show you around. This is a great option for solo-travellers. The alternative is to use plain busses. You can get some very cheap deals with companies such as the Naked Bus. Buses go pretty much everywhere. One option is to combine driving with some bus travel. You could travel mostly by car, but take the bus to areas you feel less comfortable driving to, such as taking a bus to the ski fields.
New Zealand does not have a comprehensive train system. Trains are mostly used to transport cargo for commercial purposes. We don t have a large train network for transporting people. Train travel is notoriously travel specials to hawaii slow in NZ, and you will get somewhere in half the time if you drive there. On the other hand, trains have one huge advantage they are an amazing experience. Traveling by train lets you sit back and enjoy the scenery far more-so than a car or a bus. In particular travel specials to hawaii we recommend taking the train through the West Coast (and include the trip on our 9 Day SUPERCHARGED Tour ) as it is breath-taking.
New Zealand has some nice cruising options available. New Zealand travel specials to hawaii is made up of two thin strips of land. Almost all of our major towns are coastal towns, with ports. Our big three in NZ are Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. travel specials to hawaii All are right on the sea, and all have ports. Due to the earthquakes, some cruises are right now visiting Akaroa instead of Christchurch a really fun, quirky little town that is good to check out. Cruising isn t for everyone, but if it is your style NZ is a great place to see by cruise travel.
Being a small country, you can fly between major cities within an 1 1 1/2 hours, tops. Multiple companies compete in NZ airspace including Jetstar, Air New Zealand, Pacific Blue, Quantas and Emirates. This keeps fares low. If we were to recommend any airline in particular, it would be Air New Zealand. This isn t just because it is NZ owned (though we do like that about it!) but just that Air New Zealand is one of the highest-rated airlines in the world. They are on-time and leave on-time give or take a few minutes. They very rarely cancel flights and they don t lose luggage. The downside is their everyday fares are more expensive travel specials to hawaii than say, Jetstar. So be sure to watch for low price deals in particular Air New Zealand offers grab-a-seat deals. Take advantage!
How you choose to visit New Zealand will be up to you. In general, we recommend a combination of driving, flying and perhaps taking the bus. If you can, take a train through the west coast or alternatively, if you are a cruising geek then look out for some good deals.
