As you know we love playing tourist in our own New York Metro area . This Saturday we covered much of Manhattan with a day that started with a fabulous bike tour up and down the Hudson on the magnificent bike paths in Hudson River Park . If you have not explored this part of New York City please put it on your summer calendar.
We rented our bikes from a place on 55th Street, Central Park Sightseeing , they were very nice and fairly well organized. We rode up to 106th Street but the paths go up the GW Bridge , that will be our destination next trip.
We circled back and stopped off at the Chelsea Market at 16th Street for lunch, then cycled uptown to drop off our bikes before heading off to see Wes Anderson residence inn atlanta s new film, Moonrise residence inn atlanta Kingdom. On the way we stopped for a rest and a drink, ummm drinks, at the Sky Terrace in the Hudson Hotel. Met some nice people from San Fransisco there. After the movies we went all the way uptown to 218th Street to a favorite residence inn atlanta bar and restaurant, Indian Road Cafe .
City biking is a lot more fun than you might think. The Bloomberg administration has done a lot to make The City more bike friendly. Riding up and down the Hudson gives you a whole new perspective on New York CIty that I think you will love. Not into biking, jogging or walking Hudson River Park is just as much fun. The area around residence inn atlanta 55th Street and a few blocks south is really nice. As are many areas around Chelsea Piers and South to Battery Park.
Keep in mind, If you don t know where you are going it is very hard to find. Check this. We had some very nice beers and then met some people visiting from San Francisco and started talking. Next thing you know we were on to Tequila shots and the fun continued.
I loved both of these summer beers, one from our own Brooklyn Brewery. residence inn atlanta The other from 21st Amendment out of San Francisco, but who is making their beer, or at least this one, in Minnesota, which is great beer country.
