When you first buy an RV, things can go one of two ways. Some people use it a couple canadian cheap airline fares of times and then let it sit for the next 20 years. Others canadian cheap airline fares embrace the opportunities and camp as much as possible. We ve done the latter and are finding numerous good camping places within an hour or two of home.
This past weekend was cool and drizzly, but expected to clear up enough to ride bikes. We headed to Florence, AL where we had heard there was a city park campground right on the river. The park is called McFarland Park and it is located right next to the Tennessee River. The office is only open M-F and the camp host wasn t around, so we took our choice of sites.
The sites are paved, level sites with full hook-ups. Most are back in, but there are some pull-throughs. The campground was about 1/3 full when we arrived and the website said it was first come, first served. We chose a site on the row that was closest to the river. Those sites are not shaded, but it was so cool that it didn t matter.
An hour or two after we got there, a truck with a travel trailer pulled into the site next to us and a little bit after he pulled in, the driver came and knocked canadian cheap airline fares on our door. He said the 30 amp service wasn t working and asked if we would move to another site so he could have ours. Given that half the campground was empty, it seemed a little odd since we were already set up and had chosen canadian cheap airline fares the site so we could enjoy a view of the river. We told him we were only staying one day and he could have our site after we left the next day. He pulled his trailer out of that spot and moved it to one of the empty spots, parked it, and left and didn t come back that night or the next day while we were there. We had struggled a little bit over whether to move just to be nice and neighborly, but it didn t make sense, so we declined to. When we saw that he wasn t even staying there, it made us glad that we kept our spot.
This is a big park with a large campground. There are tent spaces and even tepees for rent. There is a fishing pier at the end of the campground and a marina at the entrance to the park, so there is a bit of traffic in and out of the campground until 11 pm.
Florence is a small city, but with beautiful architecture. There is a Frank Lloyd Wright canadian cheap airline fares designed home that is open for tours and the downtown is charming. The rain kept us from bicycling, but the next morning we did go to an arts fair that was held in another park in town.
Review: McFarland Park Campground , Florence, AL. Cost $18 for full hook up. The sewer hookups are installed haphazardly and many are quite far away from the electric and water hookups, so we had to drive forward to empty our tanks before leaving. There is no cable or WiFi, but antenna signals were good for the major networks. Verizon cell service canadian cheap airline fares was good. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, there is a maximum stay of 45 days, but during the rest of their season (April 1 to Dec. 1), you can stay indefinitely. We saw police drive through frequently canadian cheap airline fares because it is an open public area. The setting is beautiful and the campground is nice, especially for the price, but I m not sure I d want to be there on a major holiday weekend.
