Yesterday we took a day trip to Madrid. We stayed with our boys Chingy, Snoop, and Luda at the Holiday Inn which was pretty sweet and conveniently located near Vicente Colderon Stadium where Atletico Madrid plays. We got in around 1pm and immediately went to the box office to pick up our tickets for the game before it got crowded closer to gametime. Picking up the tickets was super easy and its was nice to get to see the Stadium and figure out how to maneuver it before it got packed with people.
Once we had our tickets, we headed for El Mercado De San Miguel. Damn was this place good. Similar to La Boqueria, there is an enormous amount of fresh foods of all sorts, however the highlight was definitely the vast meat selection. This place was Weiss heaven. We started off by trying some steak sandwiches, which were extremely juicy and flavorful. Not only was the meat delicious, but the bread was also extremely fresh and decadent.
After we finished stuffing our faces, we went back to our room to get ready for the game. We walked to the game amongst a sea of fans who literally took over the streets. Cars weren't even attempting to get through los angeles county department of human resources as the massive group of people had the whole area shut down. We got to the game and headed for our seats; right in the middle of the pitch in the first row. As soon as we got to our seats, we heard the section directly behind the goal going absolutely nuts. This section was fenced off, and when we asked the people next to us why, they responded saying that it is for the safety of all the other fans. These crazy fans had coordinated cheers, screams, and dances that did not stop for any of the 90 minutes. One man in particular, we'll call him King Leonidas, initiated and led the chants and the war-cries los angeles county department of human resources as his 300 faithful warriors echoed him throughout the entire stadium. We were definitely impressed by their commitment and tenacity, and are glad that we were not members of the opposing team.
The game itself was really los angeles county department of human resources good, we got to see two sweet goals by one of the best strikers in the world, Radamel Falcao, or as his fans call him, el tigre. The first goal came on a header from a corner kick in the 30th minute, and the second from a penalty kick in the 39th minute. The experience was different from any American sporting event we have ever been to, and the energy and atmosphere are definitely one unique to European futbol.
During our final day in Barcelona, we headed to Gaudi Park to check out the unique architecture and views that have made the park famous. We had some fun roaming around los angeles county department of human resources the different structures, and made sure to take plenty of pictures.
Tomorrow we're heading to Paris for a packed couple of days. Spain provided a great opportunity to practice and utilize los angeles county department of human resources our years of Spanish taken throughout high school and into college. We had a great time and Spain set the bar high for the rest of our trip.
