In true time-honoured tradition, jazz, swing and easy-listening singers enter a stage in their life when touring gets sidelined in favour of a long residency on the Las Vegas Strip (or similar American city venue). Sinatra, Martin and Davis Jr did it as The Rat Pack, country-singer Garth Brooks, wirey lung-buster Celine Dion and even Guns n' Roses earmarked a stint on the most famous entertainment boulevard in the world.
