United has taken delivery of its first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (N20904) last Saturday at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. United has ordered a total of 50 Dreamliners, adding its name to the list of airliners operating the new model. Others operating the 787 include All Nippon Airways (the airline to introduce the new model), Japan Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, LAN, and Air India.

The long-range 787s are much more fuel efficient because of new light-weight composite materials used in the design of the plane's shell. They have also reduced engine noise (both inside and out) with its chevron-styled engines and extra wall padding.
