1) Cal s performance against tOSU was the antithesis of its showing in the Southern Utah game a well-played, close loss on the road to a good team, as opposed to a poorly-played, lopsided cheap monthly car rentals home win against a bad team.
The Bears seemingly had the speed and playmakers to give a less-than-elite tOSU team trouble. Then Cal showed cheap monthly car rentals poorly against Nevada and SUU and you wondered if it had the mettle to handle adversity in Columbus or whether Cal would crumble early and return home with its season in chaos.
3) If coach Jeff Tedford s job is in jeopardy come early December and it s way too early to predict it s unlikely anyone in the Cal administration will say, Let s give him another year because they came so darn close at Ohio State.
But the fact that the Bears played like that that they are capable of playing like that would seem to indicate they re capable of winning enough games the rest of the way to make Tedford s future a non-issue.
Comment: Impressed as I was with the preparation, focus, resolve, in-game adjustments and execution well, most of the execution the Bears don t deserve better than a B+, not with the missed field goals or last-minute mistakes.
In the larger sense, though, I wonder if the season, and perhaps Tedford s future, depend on D Amato s leg. Another loss or two because of missed field goals (or PATs) could be the difference between a bowl berth and a postseason shutout.
Barkley is clearly mortal. If the Bears can make USC one dimensional, a la Skov and company, they ve got a shot. USC is going to be exhausted from Saturday and may be mentally let down as well. It will be interesting to see if Kiffin is able to rally the troops after such a let down.
Coach, isn t 4th and 1 yard easier than a 42 yard field goal? let s see, 1 yard .hmm 42 yards? hmm, 1 yard . 42 yards sounds like you have no confidence in you offense, which means you have no confidence in your self. Think about it coach it s easy.
I m inclined to disagree with Pluto99 as well. USC might be exhausted, that s possible. More likely, though, cheap monthly car rentals they re in a blind rage and ready to kill anything in front of them. If I were Cal, I d much rather be playing them after they beat Stanford than after they lost to Stanford.
We shall see. They looked damned deflated after Saturday and I don t think of USC as a character team that s ready to come back from adversity. They did a fine job of playing with a chip on their should last year, but playing well when you have nothing to lose is different than playing well after you ve lost everything.
Maynard cheap monthly car rentals has ONLY looked good, when managed so as to throw the VAST MAJORITY of his balls 5yds or less. Bubble screen after bubble screen helped his stats. He was very harassed, and very bothered by scooping errant snaps off the turf, but he remains a very dangerous down-field passer. Dangerous for the BEARS not our opponent. And to call him mobile is a bit of a stretch as he recorded -46yds rushing vs OSU. Granted, sacks took a toll, but he has proven himself to be a poor scrambler as well as a runner. The BEARS will never be competitive with Maynard at the helm
What game were you watching? Maynard was on the money all afternoon. Despite low snaps and a relentless pass rush by the Buckeyes. It s fine to criticize a a man for not playing well. To make up crap to prove your own preconceived opinions is a punk move!
Give Zach the credit cheap monthly car rentals he earned and deserves for a fine performance. As for mobility he is by far the best they have at this point and any of the of the other QB s on the roster would have spent considerable cheap monthly car rentals time on their backs Saturday cheap monthly car rentals afternoon. If he plays like he played against the Buckeyes the rest of the way no one will be able to point a finger at Zach for the teams issues, not even internet blowhards like you.
What the hell is wrong with letting students in for free to preseason basketball games? At some schools, students get in for free at all games. Cal basketball is looking better, and I for gone am looking forward cheap monthly car rentals to basketball season.
As for Cal football, another almost win doesn t quite cut it for me. It s great that the team showed some fight (it should have won), but it s still 1-2, with SC coming up, and looking at another six win season, maybe. How many of those are we going to settle for?
Can anyone here tell me with 110% accuracy WHO is calling the plays these days? ABC s horrible announcers said Arroyo is calling plays. I had read several places that Coach M, the OC by title, was going to call plays. BUT, Tedford has the giant laminated list. Anyone?
I thought Maynard showed up and played well in a tough road game. Maybe his best game. But this team looks soft, and the coach has no fire whatsoever. The last hard nosed player I can remember was Zack Follett. Kennan is talented but makes mistakes, and looks more like a freshman cheap monthly car rentals than a team leader. Lots of young talent on this team, but with JT at the helm development is not likely. SC usually has their number. Trojans by 17 at least.
After 2 misses on FG ..I would of called Zack over and said you guys pick a play and go get the first down. This would of boosted Zack s confidence as well as the offense team ..Coached missed a opportunity here But that is OK. Still a long season.
