Frenchman Gael Monfils reached the quarter-finals in his first tournament back from a four-month injury layoff, prevailing against cape cod vacation rentals countryman Nicolas Mahut 7-6(4), 7-5 in one hour and 41 minutes on Thursday at the Moselle Open .
