Dollar Rent A Car has convenient national and worldwide car rental locations to service you. Our Dollar EXPRESS car rental program will get you in and on to your destination in a flash!
We booked a car through "Compare Car Rentals" Australia for pick up in Hamburg, Germany, we received a Reservation Number, u2 tour dates for but a day later received an email about Visa card Security (even though they had taken the full amount for the rental without and problems from account) we tried to contact the number in Australia...No answer. The next day received a confirmation of booking, presuming all was well, and flew out of Sydney the next morning at 6am.
Arrived in Hamburg 30 hours later with a 6 year old child, went to pick up the car and they had cancelled it, they could not explain what the security reasons were? And if this was geniune why they had taken our money, also this was not returned to our account for a further 7 days. It was disgusting, and distressing, it was winter (Jan 5, 2012) and we had family waiting our arrival in Denmark - a 2 hour drive, not like we could just grab a cab?? Anyway hired a new car cost 865Euro instead of 492.
What was really sad was Simon from "Compare Car Rentals" in Australia on our return, u2 tour dates for made a token effort, not sure if he even contacted anyone...and offered us $50 compensation. Becareful when booking a "special car hire" with this Company, they don't tell you who it's with until you receive the confirmation, at which time they have already taken your money. There by not allowing you the opportunity to do your research and read reviews just like this one..... Hope it helps spare someone else this kind of experience.
Summary: Here's my story: 3 days into my car rental, my car would not start in the morning. I called the Dollar u2 tour dates for roadside assistance and they told me that it sounded like a dead battery from my description. At that point I looked at the headlight switch thinking I left the lights on, but the switch was in the off position. They had a person come out and jump start the car. He did a quick check of the charging system and said it wasn't working properly and to return the car without shutting it off as it may not start again. I drove 90 miles roundtrip to exchange this car and wasted half a day of vacation due to this problem, not to mention the gas I paid to drive the extra 90 miles. At the end of my rental I was charged $58.95 towing fee for the jump start. Dollar says there was nothing wrong with the car and refuses to take this charge off my bill.
Summary: booked rental online with dollar car rental confirmed with them and our credit card co.that we were insured for coll. upon arrivel in Frankfurt they did not accept our printed version of the credit card ins, but asked for a special letter from our cr card co. To get the car we had to pay an additional $500 for collission and $560 security u2 tour dates for deposit, in case there is an accident, on which we lost $80 conversion when the deposit was returned. The result extra cost $580.
Weaknesses: We rented a car a Dollar rent a car. No spare key was provided at pickup. The Desk employee informed us that this was company policy.. After a few days the key-electronics did not function anymore. The car did not start and were stranded. The help of route assistance was terrible. No help at all. We had to arrange stowing u2 tour dates for (via 911) & repair and had to pay all costs. NEVER dollar rent a car again... The cars the rent are not to be trusted... and so is the company..
Summary: We arrived at Denver International Airport at 11:00 p.m. We waited 15 minutes u2 tour dates for for the shuttle to pick us up. We had reserved 2 cars; we were staying at the same hotel but I was traveling north and my husband u2 tour dates for south. When we got to the desk, a very crabby woman named Chendar asked about our reservation. I stated that we had reserved 2 cars, one in my name and one in my husband's. She asked if we were going to the same place, because it would be easier if we only rented one car. I was flabbergasted! Did she not understand that car rental companies are in the business of renting cars? Did she really think that easing her job was more important than satisfying my rental needs? I stated that we, indeed, still needed the two cars. I had reserved my car (a larger SUV) to be returned on 5 days later and a smaller SUV for my husband to be returned in 2 days. We got as far as signing everything on the screen when it occurred to me to confirm that she was giving me the correct car/rental term. She wasn't. So we had to back up and start over with her foul mood getting progressively worse. After 20 more minutes of incompetence of rudeness, we got our rental folders and left. We were greeted in the parking lot by a wonderful man named Romell Brown. He was delightful to work with and apolgized for his co-worker. He gave us 2 free upgrades, u2 tour dates for we chose our cars and drove to the security booth to leave. The barely english speaking woman at the booth noticed that my husband's name was on both reservations u2 tour dates for and the car can only be driven off the lot by the person named in the contract. We demanded to see the manager u2 tour dates for but she said we needed to go back to the office. She closed up booth and walked away from us so she could help the people behind us. We went back to Romell; he went to get the superviser. 15 minutes later we had my name on my car, which, incidentally, turned out to be the 2 day rental. It was after midnight by the time we left. After 2 days, we decided to extend my car. We called ahead to avoid the $59 charge for returning a car more than 24 hours late. She made the change but now the daily rate had gone up by $10.00 per day. We returned the car at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday after filling up both cars at the gas station u2 tour dates for 1/2 mile away. No one was outside to accept the car. I was told to note the mileage and a lot driver took me inside. The woman inside was kind but said I needed to produce the gas receipt to prove that I had filled it less than 10 miles away. I didn't have the gas receipt; I had given it to my husband for his expense report. She pointed u2 tour dates for to a sticker on the folder that stated just that and said that I had agreed to it during the rental fiasco. I called my husband and asked him to bring in the receipt. He was furious but said he would bring it in. The counter woman finally said "never mind", she didn't need it. I don't know what they think it proves except that I "got" gas nearby, not that I "filled" the car. Idiots. We dropped the second car on Sunday morning. If the shuttle had waited 30 seconds longer we would have been on it. Instead we waited 15 minutes and I finally went to ask the lot attendant where to get a shuttle. u2 tour dates for He said one would be along soon but we could always request one inside the office. I went inside the office and requested from the agent there. She looked at me but didn't respond, answer or promis service. Nothing. Crickets. Additionally, I rented u2 tour dates for a car from Thrifty the week before in Mexico. I discovered after I arrived that we were required u2 tour dates for to provide proof of foreign liability coverage or pay for the insurance at $15 per day. This added $200 to an already very expensive rental. I didn't get the car I expected, waited an hour, and then was forced to pay for unexpected insurance. It would have been nice to know that was coming when I made the reservation. Bottom line, Dollar/Thrifty have given up customer service in favor of the almighty dollar. Pay the extra at another company for reasonable service.
