Ultravox frontman  Midge Ure today announced a rare North American solo tour that s set to take place this coming January — featuring, so far, 12 dates confirmed across the U.S. and a single Canadian concert —that he says is to pave the way for the possibility of bringing Ultravox over later in the year.
The trek, which Ure announced on his Facebook page , opens Jan. 9 in New York City and currently wraps up Jan. 26 in Los Angeles. It s not clear how many more shows will be added to the itinerary, which you can check out below. The singer implores his fans, Please spread the word, it s a long way to come and play to 3 people and a dog.
The reunited '80s-era lineup of Ultravox — featuring Ure,  Billy Currie ,  Chris Cross  and  Warren Cann  — this year released a comeback los angeles zip code album called Brilliant, the first new album from that lineup in nearly three decades. The band just finished a U.K. tour, and is now in the midst of a run of European dates that will keep the group on the road through early November.
