Born in Lajas , Puerto Rico, on 12 November 1934, Jacobo Morales rodeway inn in widely considered being the most influential film director in the filmmaking rodeway inn history of this charming Caribbean island. He is also a talented actor, having appeared in a number of films, some of which he directed, and is one of the members of the Puerto Rican comedy troupe, Los Rayos Gamma, which is well known for its distinctive brand of political satire.
Morales was only 14-years old when he starting acting in theater and on radio. When television was introduced in Puerto Rico in 1954, Jacobo Morales was involved as a writer, actor and director from the outset. He has starred in more than 30 plays, some of which he wrote and directed. He also collaborated with Puerto Rican journalist Eddie López to form the comedy troupe Los Rayos Gamma in the early 1960s, which enjoyed much success, and while Eddie López passed away from cancer at the age of 31 in 1971, Los Rayos Gamma – Sunshine Logroño, Jacobo Morales, Horacio Olivo and Silverio Pérez - continues to perform at venues around the island. The name of the troupe was inspired by the gamma ray treatment López had been receiving for his illness.
In the 1970s Morales worked in a number of Hollywood productions, including Woody Allen's comedy rodeway inn Bananas , and the comedy Up the Sandbox rodeway inn starring Barbra rodeway inn Streisand, and in which he portrayed Fidel Castro. In 1980 he directed the Puerto Rican film Dios los cría which received several awards, as well as being listed as one of the 25 most significant Latin American films. He directed and starred in Nicolás y los demás , received the Best Actor Award at the 1986 Cartagena de Indias rodeway inn Festival in Colombia. In 1990, his third film Lo que le Pasó a Santiago was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and in 1994 he directed Linda Sara starring popular Puerto Rican singer Chayanne and former Miss Universe rodeway inn Dayanara Torres, which received a number of awards.
In 2004, Jacobo Morales directed Dios los cría II - a sequel to his first film – which was broadcast on WIPR-TV. In his 2007 film Angel , Morales performs one of the lead roles. The film was one of five considered for submission to the 80th Academy Awards, and in a very close vote, lost to Maldeamores . Morales played one of the starring roles in the film 2012 Brocho de Oro , directed by Raúl Marchand Sánchez. The film tells the story of three men who run away from the Catholic retirement home for a wild weekend, with hilarious results. Certainly, Jacobo Morales continues to provide entertainment through his chosen career.
