This yearly post we do is definitely my favorite for so many different reasons. To say 2012 was a great year for Cole Joseph Photography would be an understatement. Ever since I first picked up a real camera a few years ago in 2009 I have seen our work progress and I make darn sure it always is progressing and never slowing down, there is always room to improve and take raise the bar higher and higher and that is what we have set out to do since day 1. Looking back on this past year makes me so proud to see how far we ve come in a relative short amount of time but I can assure you we are not stopping here or slowing down at all!
We kept busy this past year both professionally colfax california hotel and personally. On business side of things we did 21 weddings, launched a photobooth business and I launched Cole s Classroom , a completely free website full of photography tutorials and tips aimed at teaching others photography and giving colfax california hotel them the inside ticket on how to learn this amazing craft and how to do it quickly as I have done. On the personal side we managed to squeeze in a couple fun trips and vacations, first off in April for our 1 year anniversary we did a mini road trip up the California coast up to Big Sur, CA and in July we went to St. Thomas, in the US Virgin Islands for a week which was completely awesome as expected. A handful more personal type blog posts including our travels from these trips will be up in the coming weeks
So what will 2013 bring? Ok, lets move onto the recap! Unlike last year where I picked our favorites by category this year I have FORCED myself to only pick 1 single photo from each of our 21 weddings this past year. My goal was to showcase a portrait that I felt had elements showcasing the day or showing the personality traits of the couple.
We started off 2012 with Jill Richard s Twin Oaks Garden Estate wedding in early January the day started off a little colfax california hotel wild with a winter storm present and rain throughout the day in the forecast. The drive up was filled with heavy rain but as soon as we pulled up to the venue the clouds drifted away and the sun came out, it was pretty wild how that happens sometimes.
It is hard to go wrong with a wedding at The Grand Tradition, Niccila Jason s wedding was one of three we shot at the venue. Their big day was smooth, easy, light-hearted and a great time and I just love this photo of the two of them!
Ryann Matt s St. Patrick s Day wedding was truly a whirlwind literally. I was so emotionally attached and apart of their big day considering how much Ryann I had talked in the weeks leading up to the wedding and how the wedding grew from just a small ceremony and intimate lunch with friends to a little bigger to a full blown private estate wedding, all planned and put together within about 4 to 6 weeks time. Needless to say I was devastated knowing the day was upon us and a crazy storm was going to nail us. Driving up to Murrieta was wild, could barely see and hydroplaning was becoming the norm, we got there though and stepped out all bundled colfax california hotel up, and to our surprise met up with a uber excited and glowing bride she wasn t going to let the rain mess up her day. The day was amazing, went off pretty much flawlessly and picking a single photo that showcases the day and also these two was quite easy a truly magical moment captured while playing in the rain!
Kari Dave s wedding changed dates and locations at least 3 times before finally setting in on a March wedding at the Coronado Cays Yacht Club! We were at one point going to Las Vegas, then San Diego, then I think another destination and settled at Coronado Cays, as Kari put it to me . thanks for putting up with me, we have settled on plan Z " Kari Dave are simply genuinely awesome people, that is really the best way to describe them and Kari has a smile that can light up the room, Dave is the quieter of the two (until you get to know him) and also quite the gentleman. I feel this photo captures each of their emotions well from the day.
Jane came to me one day after realizing the photographer she had hired for her wedding had turned out to be a scam. We were all upset that this would happen and that people would actually do that to others but also thankful colfax california hotel to have found out in advance of the wedding and I was able to cover the day for them. The day was filled with lots of emotion, tears and laughter and the way these two look at each other says a lot about their great relationship. This photo incorporates those feelings and the gorgeous landscape of the Grand Tradition all in one!
Patrice Andrew had a mini destination wedding here in San Diego, having their close friends and family make the small trek from Los Angeles since San Diego always was a special place for them. We made it one heck of a party over Memorial Day weekend and they were nothing but classy colfax california hotel glam. Just as this photo is.
Heather Eric wanted to leave the 100 degree Arizona heat behind them and came out to a gorgeous San Diego Bay wedding held at the Admiral Kidd club. As soon as I took this photo I loved the capture, the pose, the scene, the emotions and the San Diego of it it all came together and is one of my favorites from their day!
Lea Jay s Marina Village wedding was set on a picture perfect sunny San Diego July afternoon. Sometimes colfax california hotel just a simple portrait of the happy bride and groom looking into the camera is the winner, as this one is.
These two had a small intimate wedding with their closest family and friends and I must say by the end of the wedding Nicole and I felt like friends of all of theirs as well after we zipped all over the county in the limo with them! We took photos at a few different spots but getting off of the crowded Coronado beach and heading into the gorgeous Hotel Del let us give these two some nice moments with just the two of them. I love the candidness and expressions on each of their faces with this shot.
Kelly Rex love to have fun, they are jokers, love to laugh and do it quite often but there is also a very sophisticated and classy colfax california hotel look within each of them which to me is quite evident in this black and white of them!
Sarah Kyle met on Match.com, got engaged on live TV on the Ellen Show and planned an amazingly gorgeous wedding at The Prado in Balboa Park! These two know how to do it up big and that they did, we don t dip too often but it just feels right for these two!
Paula Tyler are musicians, like me! It was really awesome to see their classy, elegant wedding at The Bristol Hotel incorporating details of their love for music. Tyler even played for Paula Isn t She Lovely on the Sax! Smiles are good, and the below shot showcases how happy and excited these two were on their big day!
We almost all packed up and went to Hawaii for these two and their wedding! But hey Mission Bay isn t so bad either I am pretty sure no matter where the venue ended up being these two would have been smiling from ear to ear, just as they did this past August 18th. We ve known both of them for sometime colfax california hotel now and they are always a good time and genuine people but I must say, Kaitlan was absolutely stunning on her wedding day I love this photo of these two lovebirds.
When I first met up with Desiree Brian back for their engagement session , within minutes I thought colfax california hotel to myself these two can rock it! They just have that look .the look you see models in magazine ads etc Needless to say it is always a pleasure to work with them, and its a bummer they live all the way in Arizona because otherwise we d be hanging out far more often Desiree is a sweetheart and Brian is one rad fireman (also a relative of mine ) This photo captures them both so well and is the classic Desiree look that I have come to know and love. The sun had already gone down but we snuck away for 5 minutes to capture some of the soft warm sunset glow and boy o boy am I glad we did.
Erika Sergio! Our third San Diego destination colfax california hotel wedding from Arizona for the year our third wedding of the year at The Grand Tradition. What is not to love about this photo and the soft gaze Erika has into the camera. These two could make an alley look good!
Amber Aaron have such a natural flow and ease about them, they truly made our job easy that day as you can see both of them smiling at each other non-stop throughout the day. It was so hard to pick a single image because we have an entire album full of awesome shots but this one which was taken moments after their first look I always seem to come back to.
Cat, Dan I go waaaaaay colfax california hotel back meeting back in the day while working at Sea World. These two are both sweet as can be and they can each get each other laughing like crazy. This photo sums up their personalities when with each other, so much happiness, laughter and good times love the candidness of the shot and having the moon shining in the background isn t bad either.
Colette Josh ahem .such a rad couple. Their day was non-stop smiles, laughs and party just our style! I am pretty colfax california hotel sure every guest at the wedding could easily see how happy and excited these two were just from Colette s amazing smile alone.
