"On Thursday, January 17, 2013, at approximately 11:51 a.m., the Beverly Hills Police luxury car rentals in shreveport Department received a 911 call in which the caller reported an armed robbery in progress at [Cruise's] residence,"the statement said. "Upon arrival, officers made contact with private security at the residence and conducted a search of the location."
"It was determined the residence belonged to actor Tom Cruise, and no emergency was discovered," the message added. "Neither Mr. Cruise nor his family were home when the emergency was reported. Beverly Hills Police Department Detectives will be investigating the incident as a crime due to the false report."
In December, Los Angeles authorities arrested a "juvenile" suspected of reporting fake emergencies at the Los Angeles homes of actor Ashton Kutcher and Justin Bieber luxury car rentals in shreveport while they were away. It is unclear if Thursday's incident is related to either case.
Such false calls are often called "swatting" luxury car rentals in shreveport because it could spur the dispatching of a SWAT team. Such an act is a misdemeanor, although it would be classified as a felony if anyone is injured as a result of it.
Cruise's new film, "All You Need Is Kill," is due in 2014. The actor -- who, according to Forbes , was was the highest-paid actor of 2012 (see list) , recently appeared in the action movie "Jack Reacher" and also filmed the sci-fi film "Oblivion." (watch trailer) .
